FAQ

American FactFinder: For a Zip Code Tabulation Area (ZCTA), how do I find the 2010 population for a specific race group, Hispanic or Latino origin group, or American Indian and Alaska Native tribal grouping?

From the American FactFinder Main page:

  • Click “Advanced Search” and “Show me all” if prompted.
  • Click the “Topics” button (on the left side of the page) to expand the Topics list.
  • Click on People.
  • Then expand Basic Count/Estimate.
  • Click Population Total.
  • Close the Topics Search Box.
  • Click the “Geographies” button.
  • Select a geographic type from the dropdown list: 5-digit ZIP Code Tabulation Area.
  • Select a state from the drop-down list.
  • Select one or more ZCTAs from the Geographies Search Box.
  • Click – ADD TO YOUR SELECTIONS.
  • Close the Geography Search Box.
  • Click the "Race and Ethnic Groups" button.  
  • Enter a race or ethnic group (Asian, Black, Cherokee) in the text search box.
  • Click GO.  
  • Select the race or ethnic groups you are looking for from the Race and Ethnic Group Results.
  • Click Add to add to your selections.
  • Close the Race and Ethnic Groups Search Box.  
  • Make a Selection from the Search Results.  To do this, either:
    • Place a checkmark in the box next to them and click “View” or click “Download”.
    • Click the table name.
