Due to a technical change that we had to make for the application programming interface (API), the prescribed sort order functionality that we had before was lost. This means that geographies may not appear in alphabetical order, and estimates in the data downloads may not appear in the expected order. Although the data may not appear in the expected order, the file still contains the full data values and geographies.
You can sort the download into the desired order using the custom sort function in Excel:
- Select Row 1
- From the Home Tab, click Sort and Filter
- Click Custom Sort
- Leave the default radio button checked for Expand the Selection
- Click Sort
- Click Options and select Sort left to Right
- Click the "Sort by" drop down menu and select Row 1
- Click OK
We are looking into other ways to force a sort order while making sure the solution will not negatively impact the speed and performance of the site.
