Census Bureau interviewers asked multi-unit managers to provide the following:

 

  • Entry to buildings of occupied units either in person or through access codes.
    • This is legally required under 13 U.S.C. § 223

 

  • Occupancy status of units in your complex, particularly which units were known to be vacant as of April 1, 2020.

 

  • The reason that each unoccupied unit was vacant as of April 1, 2020. Reasons for vacancy include: vacant for rent, rented but not occupied, for sale only, sold but not occupied, unit is occupied seasonally or for recreational purposes only, occupancy for migrant workers, and other.
