Just as with the decennial census, you have the option of responding to the American Community Survey online, by mail or by phone. But first, we send a letter to statistically selected addresses to let them know their address has been selected to complete the ACS. Then we send instructions to complete the ACS online. If the survey is not completed online within about two weeks, we mail a paper questionnaire. Call our toll-free number (1-800-354-7271) to confirm we received your completed survey and are processing it. Wait two weeks from the date of submission before checking to give us enough time to upload and process your responses. Our telephone lines are open seven days a week, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Press zero to speak with a Census Bureau Representative.

Send your question or a description of the issue you are facing to a Census Bureau support representative.
Have a live conversation with a Census Bureau support representative to get answers to your questions.

Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET, and Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM ET, Except Federal Holidays.
